July 4th 2011
We sit watching the sky light up
With colorful fire
Launched from the top of a hill off in the distance
The smoke it makes creates a cloud to hide the moon
The stars are few
And as we sit and drink to our independence
I think of what our founding fathers would say
I don't know what they would say
But i know it would be funny
For who knew when we won our independence
That years later we would be blowing things up
Watching the heavens burn
Toasting to our freedom
A freedom we take for granted
Still this year half way over
Holds many surprises
But for now we are care free and gay
With all this going on
It's hard to hear anything else
Still where ever you are
What ever you are doing
Take a minute of this night
And toast to your freedom
For who knows how long we may have such privileges taken away
For once in your life sit with friends and family and watch
As we try to burn the heavens
As we try to blow up the sky
Celebrate
For who knows how long we will be on this earth
