Shallow Deeds
Soft moonlight comesAnd the songs of the lonely
echo through the empty corners of my room.
That time has come again
When all that has come to pass
weighs heavily on fragile brows
And hearts are dumbfounded
By shallow deeds.
Soft moonlight comes
resting on my window sill
like an old friend
Greeting me with a familiar wave,
Smiling carelessly at my loneliness.
My heart confounds me --
Beating steadily for a worthless man.
Soft moonlight comes
a reminder of utter solitude.
Let me cry no longer
For I am wretched.
I want to be as tearless as the moon.
