Rest

Rest

How long,
the shadow of our misshapen love!
No matter the distance travelled,
I dwell in its chill
Still,
Embraced by the hurts
of selfish love,
The madness of
unyielding possession.

So long ago
have we diverged.
No glances back.
No kiss goodbye.
Yet, here, today,
you are beside me;
casting shadows at my feet.

When will I pass into the warmth,

To rest beneath the light?

This is a very nice poem written with sincerety and deep feelings. It speaks to the reader with softness and honesty.

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
