~Forfeit of the dream~
~Forfeit of the dream~
What has happened to this great land,
That use to belong to the common man?
What of all my forefathers dreams,
Have they all become lost forgotten scenes?
One out of six in our land go to bed hungry,
No longer loving another day coming!
The jobs that use to be more than plenty,
Are gone as the politicians keep on pretending!
What about the great American dream,
Is it forever lost in the in betweens.
What of the families without shelter,
Today for them seems more like helter skelter.
We pay our attentions to those in foreign lands,
And have forgotten how many here have empty hands.
We all once had held our heads up high,
Today these heads dropped covered by crying eyes.
The rich always seem to get richer,
While the poor have no heat and always shiver.
The mighty dollar is not worth shit,
It wont even buy food for a little bit.
I am born a native of this once great land,
If only our President could find a simple plan.
How do we keep us a union of one,
Before this country unravels and comes undone.
I see what despair always reaps,
As I join my ranks without anything to keep or barter.
Somehow it needs to get better,
It feels like I am lost as my thoughts,
Grow bitter!
