the canyon
the great birdfell
silently through the sky
perhaps the feeling came
that he could fall
silent and free forever
though the canyon
through the center of the earth
and beyond
the rush of an eternal wind through his feathers
the earth a dim star behind him
he a bright light
streaking through a dark sky
before the canyon floor
became reality
his eyes once agan held the sun
his dull yellow talons
gripped the warm soft body
the great wings beat a heavy
causal rhythm
lifting him back to the craggy nest
high on the mountain
from where once again
He would gaze down into
the canyon
