she didn’t know when she got it

when she was younger she would hang out

    by her daddy’s gate

all the us boys would pass her by

    our mouths all agape

she was always sweet and innocent

    had that toothpaste smile

she didn’t know when she go it

but she got it by a mile

she didn’t know when it happened

    but when it happened

    she knew what she had

    and what she had

    drove all of us

    innocent young boys mad

    she used to go downtown

    after the movie

    just hang around

    all us would follow her

    hanging on the lamp posts

    just watching her

    move around

she would walk down main street

walking the only way she knew how

    she never watched us looking

    grinning that young kid smile

she didn’t know when she got it

but she got it by a mile

Great poem, brought back memories of when I was younger, and that song, baby's got her blue jeans on. Fun, and light, and sweet in a special way. Write on......Tlady

Nice write, wish I was there hanging around too. Never got googoo eyed over any chicks back then myself. Only one heated infatuation before it burned out. The rest of the chicks were just that, till my wife came along. Loved the recurring theme of her not knowing when she got it. She wasn't a snob on a pedestal, just a natural beauty? Blessings, W.
