a dark mind

    a dark mind

    footsteps sloshing
    through slippery streets
gushing rain slides off my soul
as if it were dirty grease
    not even my shadow
    follows behind
    no crack to allow
    the slightest
    ray of light
    just the cold dank darkness
    of my soggy mind
    no dull beacon shines
    through this impenetrable gloom
    my mind aches for brightness
    some luminous sheen
    arid simplicity
    an anhydrous roll
    for this sticky sodden
    weariful soul
    but a small crack appears
    in this internal strife
    where there is ache
    there is also life

will you quit it Mr. Modesty? You know that you are one of the best narrative poets on this site... and fortunately for us all, far from being self-absorbed.

well composed and crafted piece of work,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.

    Franz Kafka (1883-1924) Czech writer.
