    don't look back
    i sat on a stone
    searching the sky
    the early stars
    turned on their lights
    i wondered why
    maybe to write a poem
    this night to myself
    read it aloud to my soul
    then set it on fire
    watch the ashes roll
    and be on my way
    to all that awaits
    the morrow's day
