morning
as i awake and rub my eyes
i think of you
that’s no surprise
i yawn and think of a Texas sun
painting through a purple dawn
i’ll bet you’re on your way
to fly again
to someplace
that you’ve never been
you have this time to be alone
to have some thoughts
that are your own
you coffee cup is running low
the airport’s here
it’s time to go
to park the car
to check yourself
your cell phone sings
your wake up call
time to get in the ring
i left that scene
a long time ago
my life is so much different now
my time is my own
my soul is free
i don’t think too much
about where i am
or where i should be
you always said 'what you see is what you get'
what i saw i can’t forget
what i got
i’m not over yet
with your see-through honesty
i’m scared i'll find
a no-vacancy sign
in your eyes
sometimes i wish for one more night
one more dance across some floor
to hear you say ‘That was nice.’
just one time more
i think of you
that’s no surprise
i yawn and think of a Texas sun
painting through a purple dawn
i’ll bet you’re on your way
to fly again
to someplace
that you’ve never been
you have this time to be alone
to have some thoughts
that are your own
you coffee cup is running low
the airport’s here
it’s time to go
to park the car
to check yourself
your cell phone sings
your wake up call
time to get in the ring
i left that scene
a long time ago
my life is so much different now
my time is my own
my soul is free
i don’t think too much
about where i am
or where i should be
you always said 'what you see is what you get'
what i saw i can’t forget
what i got
i’m not over yet
with your see-through honesty
i’m scared i'll find
a no-vacancy sign
in your eyes
sometimes i wish for one more night
one more dance across some floor
to hear you say ‘That was nice.’
just one time more
