Satan Sprang
She said she saw the Devil
When she was very young
She hid under the sheets
Until he was gone
Said she peeked out
From underneath
Saw his hooves
On his goat-like feet
His face was twisted
In the manner of a demon
All she could hear was her heartbeat
And the sound of breathing
Closed her eyes silently
Inside she was screaming
I believe she believed
In what she was seeing
To this day
I wonder
If Satan sprang
Upon her slumber
Or was she prey
Of another?
In dark of night
In desperate hunger
Did he take
Back the covers?
Her world exposed
To his wishes...
She had fierce blue eyes
Oh, what can lie
Behind them?
She liked the taste of blood
She showed me all her cuts
And told me tales
Of ghosts and hauntings
That had plagued her most her life
Then she took her knife
And right before me
Blood spilt from her arm
I took the blade away
And said she had to stay
I told her there would be
No more harm
Her eyes were slightly dazed
Definitely glazed
Looked as though she had fallen
Under a charm
We talked awhile,
I can't remember about what
Anything to subdue
My alarm...
And I still wonder
Was she crazy?
A category 5 imbalance?
A schizo reverb skipping
Through her head?
Or did Lucifer appear
Fill her soul with fear
And jack up all the clockwork
In her head?
Did he inject her with dread?
Make her focus on dead?
Or did another demon grab her
Making her soul sadder
Than it probably could have
Ever, ever been?
Confusion in the darkness
Illusion that he's harmless
When in the daylight
He'd pretend to be her friend
Did she see the Beast
Because she couldn't see her dad,
Or her brother or another or
Whoever brought that kind of fear
Upon a child of light?
Or did Lucifer
Truly arise,
Horns and tail
And immense size
Standing by her bed
That fateful night?
I'll never know now,
We lost touch long ago
I just pray she has Love
Within her soul
I hope that she's found a way
Out of her abyss
May angels help guide her
Away from darkness...
