Fleeting Breath of Life
The candle lit-
illumination fleets
upon the walkway;
this fear deters
all logical thought:
I am blind,
I cannot see.
Voice plaintively pleads,
"Will you release me today-
absolve my grief?
My spirit is worn,
how lonely I feel,
with miles ahead
and darkness behind;
my steps are uneven,
in unison of my heartbeats-
it is time to fly.
Wings unfold,
metaphysically perfect.
Raised in gratitude
to light of moon:
blessed are thee
my secluded brother.
Lift me up
to fly from earth,
never to touch
her cushioned ground.
This bitter rage
steals my soul;
I will not give into this hate.
Wings carry me
far from this darkness-
abscess of my mind.
I will not hold back
nor debase
the facts of troubled circumstance.
Be this temporary
or eternity;
my heart's untroubled,
I fall into life's embrace;
peace be mine
for perhaps another day.
