Compassion and Vanity
Come into the mind,
So dark yet so kind.
Painful and gentle soothing,
Sorrow with a joy unmoving.
All are but peace in the midst of battle
A candle in the harsh wind's rattle
Come to the place where love lives on
To the place where it's darkest before dawn.
We are a child's blanket.
We are a swift torrent.
Safety in the dead of night,
Engine failure in mid-flight.
We are the monsters under your bed.
We are the demons in your head.
We are your mother's breast.
We are your lover's chest.
One universal being,
One entity all seeing.
We are the faith and the destruction.
We are your hope and your abduction.
We are cloaked in compassion and vanity.
We are simply... humanity.
