Being True to True Love
True love is not butterflies.
True love is not blood pumping,
Nor constant azure skies.
Real love is compromise and sacrifice.
Real love is hurts and fears.
Real love is surviving beans and rice.
Someone with whom you can be the best you.
Marriage is work and growth.
Partnership means giving your best too.
It's gonna cause you to break down,
Just to build you back up.
Occasionally you will be tightly wound.
You will hurt.
You will have tears.
You will suffer.
You will overcome so many fears.
There is nothing as good or bad,
There is no comparison,
To loving another like mad.
Mad enough to fight through,
Disability, cancer, infertility.
Fighting to stay in love with you.
Marriage is not fity fifty;
It is not black and white.
Sometimes it's thirty seventy,
And ends in plight.
Love is not happy all the time.
Love is not joys and cheers.
Love is making it through the climb.
Mountains and valleys,
Dark days and bright nights,
Marriage is keeping with the rallies.
Soul to soul melted together
It is not when two become one
It is about a team,
Succumbing to none.
As a husband or wife,
Trials and triumphs,
This is truly sharing a life.
