A Trip to Africa Without Leaving America
T'was five days without electricity:
No running water, no air conditioning,
Food gone low, toilets are no more, heatless.
A trip to Africa barely left home.
FIRE! FIRE! Lights go out, engines failed. . .
Cruise catastrophe, Triumph has fallen.
Drifting, drifting for days; no help in sight.
Tugboats taking too long, low on water.
Stuck adrift in the Gulf of Mexico;
Paradise to Hell in twenty minutes flat.
Food from Elation yet no salvation. . .
Best Valentine was dry land and clean rooms.
Five days in Africa gives me insights,
Into my fellow humans' birth right plights.
