The Difference
The difference between I Believe and I understand
is clearly within one's our own hand
A belief has little, if any, experience attached to it
Whereas understanding is based on experience
One should not say - I believe the sun will rise
The sun rising is a forgone conclusion
That knowledge is based on experience
One might say, I believe God loves me,
because that is a belief
A personal God is a belief
It may seem to be true because one wishes
to believe it
But it is still only a belief
It is the same for science, but scientist's beliefs
are true for them - until something more true
shows up - and then they let go of the old
to embrace the new - at least eventually
Religion cannot do that - for to accept the
non-traditional is to destroy the old
and accepted belief
And it leaves one with no firm foundation
Hence we do not want to accept it
Yet we are heading into an enlightened era
and a shift within our hearts and minds begins
