SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD
Spare the rod spoil the child
does this parable define
spare the rod leave all to God
the child will be fine
Does this verse differ
from the parable above
use the rod to beat the child
learning to hate all love
Spare the rod spoil the child
the Shepard's sheep obey
by the blessing of his staff
which guides his flock and strays
The rod is not for punishment
it unites the misconstrued
guiding us to contentment
A realm that's rarely used
The rod is not extreme
for power nor to gain
not used to control one's soul
nor beat a person sane
The rod is very useful
a strength that beats all doubt
when fallen into quick sand
this staff can pull you out
Spare the rod spoil the child
the interpretation differs
it's strength for the weak
and guidance for the drifters
I'm sure the rod has many gifts
our eyes could see but two
The Lord holds all the wisdom
we hold some yet confused
The rod is just a staff
It can help or cause us stress
it all depends whose hands
the rod is laid to rest
The poems of death too soon
the addictions and extremes
the depression and the panic
leaving reality for dreams
The poems of fear and vengeance
the cons and hypocrites
poems of many prayers
attention deficit
I understood the words I wrote
tho, like life they were surreal
I felt I had a gift
to help others souls to heal
I'm just now comprehending
and feeling every word
each poem has a message
I've just now finally heard
My poems are clearly guidance
answers to my prayers
I feel I've missed so many years
by being unaware
I was lost but now I'm found
and now my soul can see
what my heart was feeling
I've never felt so free
I call my rod a life jacket
it's saved me many times
from many certain deaths
my sanity now mine
I found my biggest demons
impatience and sheer fear
I was in a hurry to go no where
and afraid to die unclear
First must come the patience
within each day is a new
this will beat all demons
patience truly is a virtue
