DOES DADDY
DOES DADDY
Does someone know how daddy feels
when he calls your name
Does anybody know if daddy
Ever takes self blame
When you lay at home in bed
does daddy tuck you in
Til your fears succumb to peace
as the blankets brush your skin
Daddy's unconditional love
tell me how it feels
Do the kisses I have missed
really make you heal
When you cry late at night
does daddy hold your hand
Hug you til your tears subside
says he understands
Does he laugh at what you say
just to see you smile
Will he walk to find your love
no matter what the mile
Does he gleam with pride and joy
when you call his name
So all the others know you're his
your face in picture frames
When I look into the mirror
at times I see his face
The similarities we do share
they cannot be erased
Is daddy really Superman
that fixes all that's wrong
Does he have a special place
where only you belong
I have to ask these questions
you see I'll never know
Can I share your daddy
to let my feelings go
I'll take your daddy for a day
fill that day with years
Lend me just a part of him
his heart , an open ear
Then he's your forever more
the day until he dies
Then when asked what daddy does
I'll need no alibias
