PROMOTION in CAPTIVITY
I Joseph was sold by my siblings to be a slave in the Nubian Land,Though in captive I was inspired and guided by God's blessed hands,
I worked in the Pharoah's Kingdom as a slave and found favor in his eyes,
A child descended from the House of Abraham's blood and linage ties.
In bondage I lift up my head to God to see me through each day,
And bondage chains was no obstacle, when in faith I prayed,
Tempted to gain carnal knowledge by master Potiphar's wife,
I escaped in victory as a prisoner for life.
With victory over this temptation, God promoted me,
From bondage and prisoner to be governor, God heard my humble plea,
When Pharoah King of Egypt sought the wisdom it took to know,
What will be the results of all seeds that he and farmed and sowed,
I told him of impending famines and droughts about to come,
His kingdom spared from starvation, and he reaped an abundant sum.
The amount reaped in Egypt was sufficient for many a years,
All of Egypt spared from starvation, drought and fear,
I forgave my brothers though, I was in bondage sold,
Though they left me in the master's grip, way out in the cold,
It's with God's blessings and grace, that I had much food to share,
My brothers' lands experiened droughts and famines for those years,
I supplied and gave them all the food that they'll need,
Though they sowed an evil seed of jelousy and greed.
I am Joseph, Governor of Egypt, and a child of God.
