Kingston MARKET
Kingston Market is one of a kind,Tropical fruits and vegatebles everything you'll find,
Handcarts with fruits will be lined up and full,
The chattering and the haggling,
The sisters with the strengths of bulls,
Balancing bakra fruit basket on top her head,
making sure all the Kingstonians are sufficiently fed,
Shopping among'st the beautiful sistas it's interesting to know,
Many of these hard working sistas, have a lot to show
Ackee, ripened mangoes and yams are lined up in rows,
Renta, sweet and yellow yams just choose and you're ready to go.
Just look at the sista as she balanced the basket too,
Oranges and tangerines so many, to knock you out your shoes.
Boy, I tell you when I look at the breadfruits in piles and piles,
The pretty sistah said to me, 'How much you wan't Mista man?",
Give me a good price sista I said, goods already held in her hand.
I smile at the patois talk and laughed in approval my friend,
Having been away for so long, they've continued the trend,
To continue our precious lingua and continued it's pace,
Not caring weather it's refined or appears to be out of place.
I talk "in a di lingua', too, for of Jamaica I am proud,
My experience in Kingston Market kept me floating on a cloud,
I took my breadfruits, some bananas, ackee and salt fish too,
Naseberry, sweetsop and sour sop and guineps, I took a few,
Not to mention some coconuts and red peas to cook my favorite dish,
Of rice and peas and vegetables with escovitched fish.
Oh boy I tell tell you, Kingston Market never dissappoint,
I held on to some sugar cane and took me a dozen joints,
I had trouble to walk away from this bustling marketplace,
Loaded, I rented a donkey cart to help pick up the pace,
Now I can move faster before the big crowd comes,
my thoughts strayed about the food I'm going to cook at home.
