Ooopsney N River Dove (How It All Began)
Ooopsney N River DoveHow it all Began
Narration: This is a story of a little girl and boy. How they grew up together and played. Little River Dove Pinkly all dressed up in her mother’s wedding gown and shoes. With her long black hair flowing and her big brown eyes all a sparkle she knocked on her best friend’s door. Ooopsney Clovis, now he was a looker, and little River Dove was so in love.
Ooopsney!!! Can you come out and play…say me
Sure River Dove…give me a minute
Narration: When Ooopsney opened the door he couldn’t believe his eyes. There stood River Dove in a long flowing white gown swinging a plastic pail to and fro.
River Dove…say you…what are you wearing?
My mommy’s wedding dress say me
Why…say you
Cause Ooopsney…say me…you’re gonna marry me
Ohhh no I’m not River Dove
Uhh huh Ooopsney, I’m gonna be Mrs. Ooopsney Clovis
Come on Ooopsney…lets go play in the sand
I’ll go with you to play in the sand, but I aint
Gonna marry you River Dove
Oh yes you will Ooopsney…now come on
Narration: So the two friends went to the sand box and as they walked River Dove would slip her hand into Ooopsney’s and like the boy he was he would jerk his hand away.
River Dove…you’re gonna get your
Mom’s wedding dress dirty and
You’re gonna be in trouble.
It’s ok Ooopsney, she knows I’m
Playing dress up and that you and
I are gonna get married.
Now Ooopsney…I can either take your last
Name and be River Dove Clovis…Or
You can be Ooopsney Pinkly…
Pinkly is mommy’s maiden name cause
She said there was no way she was going
To take daddy’s last name cause…
Why River Dove…what is your dad’s
Last name…say you
Goofinheiney…Seymour Goofinheiny
And mommy doesn’t
Like it Ooopsney…she said there
Was no way she was going to be
Purdy Goofinheiny and so…
Narration: Now the look on Ooopsney’s face was grand, not only was it grand, it was full of mischief and he could not resist the temptation of teasing Little River Dove as they played in the sand.
River Dove…all this time I have been
Callin you Lil bright star and I could
Have been callin you goofy butt
Ooopsney, I like it when you call me
Lil bright star…cause I know you
Think I’m beautiful just like the stars
Narration: And as River Dove said this she grabbed Ooopsney’s face so fast he didn’t see it coming and she kissed him. Ooopsney’s eyes were very big and so full of surprise.
River Dove…whatcha go n do that for
Cause Ooopsney I love you
Narration: Then along about that time the neighborhood bully came by laughing and teasing Lil River Dove. He made fun of her name, calling her Goofy Butt, and laughed at her beautiful wedding gown as he pushed her down. Poor Lil River Dove cried and this didn’t sit well with Ooopsney, and Ooopsney punched him and ran him off. When Ooopsney came back he hugged Lil River Dove.
Ooopsney…say me…you hit him
Yeah River Dove, nobody is going
To pick on you…
See Ooopsney…you love me
And were gonna get married
Yeah River Dove…I love you
And yeah…were gonna get married
Narration: So Ooopsney found a small Indian bead and with a twist tie he pulled from his pocket he wrapped the tie around the little stone and tied it on River Dove’s finger.
River Dove was so excited she threw her arms around Ooopsney and kissed him again, and together they walked home. And as time went on Ooopsney and River Dove attended the eighth grade dance, movies and dinners. Then came their Senior Prom and River Dove left ooopsney long enough to go and powder her nose. When she came back Willa Branch was dancing with Ooopsney, and she kissed him. River Dove was beside herself with anger but calmly walked up to the two of them. She politely said hello to Willa and in the same moment she raised her foot and stomped Willa Branch’s toes. River Dove took Ooopsney’s hand and with a very soft and calm voice told Willa Branch that Ooopsney doesn’t take up with trash. Then River Dove looked up at Ooopsney, smiled and said let’s go home. And so off they went hand in hand. Six months later Ooopsney and River Dove were married. It was just like River Dove said it was going to be. It was a beautiful spring day in the park, the same park where she and Ooopsney played in the sand when they were little. Wearing her mothers sand stained wedding gown and shoes River Dove ran on tip toes to her beloved Ooopsney. After saying their I do’s Ooopsney pulled out the little ring, the little Indian bead stone he found all those years ago. He replace the twist tie with a silver band and the little stone was mounted beautifully. Now ten years later on this special Christmas Eve Ooopsney stands looking out the window at the stars.
Come mere baby…say you
Look at those stars River Dove
Oh Ooopsney they’re beautiful
Not as beautiful as you baby…
You’re my Lil bright star…
I love you River Dove
I love you too Ooopsney
Merry Christmas…say you
Merry Christmas…say me
