Lost
a mother walks down a side walk,
in the daarkness of her shadows
dwelling in the thoughts
of what happened earlier that day
no longer will she see her child smile,
nor will she hear him cry
no longer will she bathe him,
or sing him a lullaby
her child is now a memory
of something she once had
now she lingers in thought of hopelessness,
what will she tell his dad
off to work this morning,
his last words to him were i love you
though he never would have guessed
he would just be coming home to you
tears dwell in her eyes
as the images replay in her mind
of watching her child chase after his ball
tires screeched, a horn blared
but the car had stopped to late
her innocent child
had met an untimely fate
she ran over to him
thinking there was still time
but when she reached the pavement
a shoe was all she could find
the sounds around her dimmed
sirens and lights entered the scene
there was nothing they could do
for the child was already gone
so now as this mother walks
she sings a sad song
no longer will she see her child
nor will she hear him cry
no longer will she bathe him
nor sing him a lullaby
in the daarkness of her shadows
dwelling in the thoughts
of what happened earlier that day
no longer will she see her child smile,
nor will she hear him cry
no longer will she bathe him,
or sing him a lullaby
her child is now a memory
of something she once had
now she lingers in thought of hopelessness,
what will she tell his dad
off to work this morning,
his last words to him were i love you
though he never would have guessed
he would just be coming home to you
tears dwell in her eyes
as the images replay in her mind
of watching her child chase after his ball
tires screeched, a horn blared
but the car had stopped to late
her innocent child
had met an untimely fate
she ran over to him
thinking there was still time
but when she reached the pavement
a shoe was all she could find
the sounds around her dimmed
sirens and lights entered the scene
there was nothing they could do
for the child was already gone
so now as this mother walks
she sings a sad song
no longer will she see her child
nor will she hear him cry
no longer will she bathe him
nor sing him a lullaby
