it begins
First the messages shorten,
To only a few lines.
Brief words saying;
You’ll always be mine.
Next the messages are growing,
Further apart.
Telling me you love me,
With all of your heart.
Until the time comes when days go by that;
I don’t hear from you.
Am I imagining things?
Are you hinting that this relationship is;
Almost through?
Soon only replies to the words,
That I send.
My heart aches in fear that;
This could be the end.
My breathing grows faster,
My heart aches in my chest.
Truly this can’t be,
For the best.
I fear if I show you my insecurity,
You’ll tire of it,
And set me free.
As the saying goes;
“One bitten,
Twice shy.”
The thought of losing you,
Only makes me cry.
Once you sent me messages out of the blue.
Always reassuring me,
Our love was true.
I’m sorry I appear needy,
And unsure.
Even though I know your love for me,
Is pure.
Is this how things will end?
Is this how losing you begins?
