    Hidden

    I hide from the lies.
    I hide from the hatred.
I hide from the decieving eyes
    Of the people
    Around me.

    I pull away
    Into my shell
    By pulling up my hood,
    Putting in my headphones,
And turning the volume up nice and high.

    I keep walking,
I can't see anyone around me
    Any longer.
    So I keep walking,
    Until the lights are dim,
And no longer is anyone a threat to me
    In the world.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
