CAN YOU STAND THE RAIN?
The loud sound of thunder interrupted my thoughts,
making me break into tormenting aches and pains
leaving me lonely eventhough im surrounded by love
Scaring me from what I can and cannot do
wishing I be left alone to suffer this once more
my soul flooding with tears of sadness
not understanding how I can be such a coward
giving up without a fight lying there to die
suddenly my innner voice yells without control
insulting me and ordering to stand up
"you can beat this!"
"You know you can!"
Then I ask myself
"Can you stand the rain?
Before you used to dance and twirl in it,
thunder never stopped you from having fun."
so I get up from bed holding on to the wall
willing to battle to death if I shall
I get outside and feel alive
kneeling down I stretch my arms to heaven
the rain drops give me power to laugh
as the water opens up my soul
I hold onto my chest and feel my heart beating
telling me I am alive and well
as I bathe there kneeling in a puddle of mud
I feel free like rescued from an egg shell
a hard egg shell I had imprisoned myself into
who cares if people laugh at me
who cares what anyone says
I am alive and I am free of being scared
scared of loving, living and screaming
scared of showing everyone I am alive
"Now is your turn to tell me,
CAN YOU STAND THE RAIN?
standing by my side."
making me break into tormenting aches and pains
leaving me lonely eventhough im surrounded by love
Scaring me from what I can and cannot do
wishing I be left alone to suffer this once more
my soul flooding with tears of sadness
not understanding how I can be such a coward
giving up without a fight lying there to die
suddenly my innner voice yells without control
insulting me and ordering to stand up
"you can beat this!"
"You know you can!"
Then I ask myself
"Can you stand the rain?
Before you used to dance and twirl in it,
thunder never stopped you from having fun."
so I get up from bed holding on to the wall
willing to battle to death if I shall
I get outside and feel alive
kneeling down I stretch my arms to heaven
the rain drops give me power to laugh
as the water opens up my soul
I hold onto my chest and feel my heart beating
telling me I am alive and well
as I bathe there kneeling in a puddle of mud
I feel free like rescued from an egg shell
a hard egg shell I had imprisoned myself into
who cares if people laugh at me
who cares what anyone says
I am alive and I am free of being scared
scared of loving, living and screaming
scared of showing everyone I am alive
"Now is your turn to tell me,
CAN YOU STAND THE RAIN?
standing by my side."
