The song of an unloved son
Walking through a crowded street
Silent boy tugged at mother’s hand
A ball and chain to her feet
A weight of affectionate demand
To the boy no attention ever paid
Ignored accept for when doing wrong
Young boy a young girl’s mistake made
She sang the dangerous lovers song
His hair dishevelled, unwashed unkempt
Clothes kept together with accumulated grime
Another life far from here he dreamt
Locking himself up in a world of rhyme
One day she’d be sorry he’d let her know it
She’d regret being a loveless mother
He’d sing his history thru the voice of a poet
That he was the making of an unloved lover.
