    Poem Commentary

I wrote this song for David when he was about 3 years old;  he's now 34!

    Song for David

    Song for David

    My name is David
It was the name of a King
    He was a little boy
Who killed a giant with a sling

When I forget what I'm worth
And no song I can sing
    I remember David
Was the name of a King

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
