Life's Pace
Life’s pace
I find it hard to see the good in life
When it whizzes by
When nothing…no, my life…is lived
At nothing less than breakneck speed.
Every second consumed with performing tasks
That others dictate at their whim
Life was not always this way
There was time to appreciate
To be appreciated
Time to express gratitude
To be at peace.
I served as an overseer for a time.
It was the best of times…
I served both clients and, but more…
I served those I employed.
For, who are we to serve, but the least of us?
In my hour of discontent, I will speak what ails me
And only in that hour will I be able to pray out to my God..
Why have you forsaken me?
Lord, you have heard my prayer.
I pray you now release me from the shackles that I do not deserve
And give me the wisdom of new life.
