    Do Animals Cry?

    I read today that a distraught man
    Shot a mother duck.
    It angered me how anyone can
    Be so cruel and that screwed up.
    I prayed to God this man would suffer,
    I prayed that he would die,
    I wondered though, in the scheme of it all,
    Do animals ever cry?

    I read today that a thoroughbred horse,
    Three years and full of pride,
    Broke his leg on a race course,
    Galloping in full stride.
    I prayed to God the steed not suffer,
    I prayed he wouldn't die.
    The thought struck me, when creatures fall,
    Do they ever cry?

    I read today two geese were flying,
    And both got caught in a storm.
    They were mates, together for life,
    And one of their wings got torn.
    I prayed to God, be merciful Lord,
    I prayed it wouldn'd die.
    These beautiful birds that so love one another,
    Have they reason to cry?

    Then God said to me, in his omnipotent way,
    All creatures are born to die.
    To them I promise My love and compassion,
    An eternal place to lie.
    Animals you see,
    Are special to me,
    They have no need to cry.

    I am not sure if animals cry,but do know that they can express emotions.This well written and thought provoking poem flows smoothly and is heart touching.A very nice tribute to animals and a most memorable poem.

    Kevin this is a deep and well thought out poem. Your compassion for animals is truly the compassion GOD feels for all his creations. It is no wonder to me that you feel as you do because we are made in HIS image and likeness. However man is the only creature that GOD created that wasn't suppose to die. It was only by man's disobedience to GOD that sin and death enter the world. I want you to be clear on that. I am however sure because animals are living creatures that they possess the same basic emotions as humans... i.e. love, hate, grief, parenting skills such as caring and protecting their young and pride. Man is the only living creature here on Earth that kills for sport. As for the poem, it is sensitive, delightful, well written and it flows very well. Thanks for sharing...

    One of the sadest days of my life was the day I had to put my 3 month old puppy down. You know she was so much like me in every way but human. That day. That dreadful day. I was shaking and sobbing. Just couldn't put her on that cold table just yet. I kept hugging her and kissing her nose and crying hysterically. And in one moment my precious little "Tootsie" put her nose to mine and held a very long eye glance and I knew she knew and in her own way trying to comfort me. In all her misery she trying to comfort me. My little "Tootsie" was laid to rest.... I never saw a tear but she did cry.... You are so awesome to respect and love nature and the creatures of the earth... Thank you...
