Another Brand New Day
Father time's a river,
That gently flows along.
Nothing can break its stride,
It's will to carry on.
Men can grapple, resist it's pull,
Try to slow it down.
It never tires, like the tide,
Never loses ground.
A watch may lose a second,
A clock may lose a tick.
A pendulum's momentum,
Perpetually powers it.
God can build a mountain,
Cause the sun to shine.
Raise a man from the dead,
But cannot hold back time.
As we cross the threshold,
Of a brand new year,
Relax and take a fresh hold,
Of that which you love dear.
Take time and remember,
Consider what brought you here.
Sit back and behold,
What's passed yet oh so near,
Reflect, hear stories told,
Of laughter and of cheers.
Lets share what's not so old,
Bless those no longer here.
As the new year child appears,
Father time gives way.
Last year gradually dissipates,
With every brand new day.
It fades into our memories,
Recedes in shadows cast,
Its seeds are planted in our minds,
A garden that always lasts.
