Why Aren't You Crying?

Poem Commentary

This is my autobiographical piece, the epic isn't over yet by far, but neither have I found anything else I really want to add, yet...

Why Aren't You Crying?

Brought into being without consultation

Cast away without consolation

Indoctrinated in self-hate with a crucified sage

Tortured and mind-raped from the tenderest age

In affirmations of pain your young soul is destructed

"Love is agony, that’s why we hurt you son"

Alien in your own skin, no choice but to run

So, why aren't you crying?

Flee as you will, seek the ends of the earth

Yet you'll never escape the crime of your birth

Use the compounds of relief and sweet sticky release

Throw yourself at oblivion boy, but you'll never know peace

Serenade the Grim Reaper, hold the gun to your head

You know you're unlovable, so accept "whatever" instead

You're too evil for Heaven, too saintly for Hell

You can't find sanctuary, so hide in a bullet-proof shell

Umm, why aren't you crying?

Learn to fight, learn to kill, tame the valley of death

But be utterly defenseless against a woman's sweet breath

Have mentors appear so you can learn what you must

After you've been lied to so often that you're unable to trust

You'll never quite fit in, there's always a schism

Since you don't deserve joy you embrace masochism

Pound the nerve till it’s numb, give no quarter to pain

Live your life some how sure you'll always love in vain

But, why aren't you crying?

Lash out at yourself with a razor-sharp bludgeon

Spit in the king's face, spend long years in his dungeon

Construct a lucid fantasy, look yourself right in the eyes

The truth is so bleak that you're forced to tell yourself lies

Be abandoned and betrayed wherever you turn

Feel Faith's foundations tremble as you watch cities burn

You cling to hope with a death-grip, too cynical to dream

Watch in horrified wonder as the world splits on its seams

See your life pass your eyes, a prelude to dying

Set your face in a smile, your last act of defying

Leave everyone wondering why you aren't crying.

This was an incredible write my friend, I could feel the emotion put into it as I read your words! Truly great! I also loved your commentary, people often ask when is ur album coming out, or when is your next write coming, and I often tell them I am not sure, because I am still living it. To write with truth and passion is the only way for a poet to write. Terrific, Peace and Love. ~Spence

Having been heavily influenced by Military Men as a child the concept of Suffering in Silence is all too familiar. I really dug this write. Nice.

poems I have read usually come from the heart, but it appears as if yours was devastated. I'm sorry for the pain you had to experienced in order to write such a dark piece of work. Having said that, this piece was amazing!!! It drew me in and kept me on the edge of my seat through the last period.
