    to put in words
    impossibly soft, your heart,
    so kind, it gathers me so close,
    close enough that my breath

    quiets like the lull of waves
    gently lapping the shore
    that tug me back and forth.

    seagulls sing to me, as i rock
    in a distant lullaby i once heard
    maybe as a child or in another lifetime.
