Tides Of Life
I walked along the beach alone at sunset of the day
I stopped to watch the tide roll in then slowly slip away
It struck me as I pondered this wonder God had made
How much our lives are like the tide, how all the plans were laid
He knew how we would come and go, where all our roads would lead
The people we would love and lose, the courage we would need
So many times I lose my way, I let myself be weak
If I would listen closely, I know I'd hear him speak
He speaks to every one of us when life gets hard to take
He makes the road much smoother, the choices easier to make
So if you ever need a friend and no one can be found
Just listen with your heart and know He'll never let you down
Authors comment:I know there is another poet on here who has a poem with the same title. I just want to reassure you that I did not plagiarize your title. I wrote this poem in 1990 when I was still a Catholic. Although I have changed my belief system since then I still find this comforting.
