The Pitts
When a soldiers job is done
few care if he has lost
or won.
His soul is shredded,
never to be
the same.
So.....
nightmares have become his
friends, waking him with
gruesome pain.
He grabs, very carefully,
from bed to dead, black
chair.
His legs are gone,
deep in sands.
So it goes, he is aware,
who gives a damn
when no one cares.
Never will we walk
within the boots he wore.
So little we choose
to see.
This hero has been
cut in half,
just to make us free.
few care if he has lost
or won.
His soul is shredded,
never to be
the same.
So.....
nightmares have become his
friends, waking him with
gruesome pain.
He grabs, very carefully,
from bed to dead, black
chair.
His legs are gone,
deep in sands.
So it goes, he is aware,
who gives a damn
when no one cares.
Never will we walk
within the boots he wore.
So little we choose
to see.
This hero has been
cut in half,
just to make us free.
