RE: Adios Amigo's

Look, this site runs perfectly fine, and those people who are unhappy with OP should leave, Quietly, because their unhappiness is with themselves and not really with the actions, the direction, or essence of Original Poetry. If you are dissatisfied with where you are or with what you are doing then change the situation by moving-on, but do it Quitely and stop presenting yourselves as victims or martyrs or better than everyone else, and stop insulting or bashing those who are content.

The OP stage is a wild play in full-swing, it’s comical, dramatic, fair, unfair, perfect and imperfect, and each moment here is another moment within life’s gamble, within life’s reality: things go wrong and right, and if you fall down then get up, without whining, and play the game without feeling sorry for yourself. All of life is the same: we win and loose. Life within OP is no different, and why should it be?

Either you stay and play the game with dignity or you leave Quitely and without disrespecting those who desire to stay.

Original Poetry has been and is doing a fantastic job by giving poets a competitive arena to present their work (as the entire poetry world [in reality] is competitive) and if this is not good enough for you then don’t let the mosquitoes bit your ass on your way out of the forest.

Happy New Year!

canoes roam the streams, boats sail the seas, battle ships wave their flags upon the waters, but I am a lighthouse with a dance floor within it's walls.
they come and go, but a lighthouse is always there, and always shall be in any storm. Happy New Year, and be.

Amen, Dah, this site functions extremely well as a society of poets giving the poet a place to post and to be read on a grand scale. Love, peace and freedom, Olan.

RE: Adios Amigo's

There maybe negative shifts in these threads, and Poets do not want to post because of their choice.
There is a postive side to some things in this, so I'll ask Papa=Pac-man, to scan my plans, and he'll listen to the voices that pm'd me, and it shall benefit all of you, so surf.....ya....

I have erased some videos that are irrelevent, but some are not they are analogies, to create a NEW SENSE,

Originalpoetry has a youtube channel to gather poets from youtube, he has no one to help, him, again that idea has been mentioned.

lol, Asha is precious, awe. lol.
Papa people are afraid to say what they like about the idea, because they are happy in what they have, lol, and they sure as in OP land are not going to bash, lol,
but the the truest cue is the competive future, and the more they can have at their hands..

Remember when you were going up, and they said the world is moving faster, so you better be alert, and times are changing, well they are no different now.

So you/we have a new year ahead of you/us, full of the grandest, lol

Whenever one attempts to push for change you will always run into the pompous, ego driven selfishness that demands silence if they are not big enough to listen to your voice with an open mind then return the favor keep your ideas coming Wordslinger. wink

RE: Adios Amigo's

The videos annoy me as much as our favorite Cousin’s repeat forum postings. If this site is about writing original poetry then why post videos of someone else’s performance? Do your own video for pete’s sake and I’ll watch it but why repost a youtube video when we can go to youtube and watch it there?

I was asked to give my opinion....here it is....Createspace presence on OP is a great idea for someone who would like to see their poems printed in a book form.

OP is simply wonderful as is... Papa and the rest are doing a great job. It has been my experience here just as in real life, you get back exactly what you give. If you want to be read then read more and if you want more comments, then give more comments....it’s reciprocal.

here, Aria. Why waste a forum thread on YouTube plugs, and links to all
kinds of crazy sites............We all should go to those sites and send them
to our site.........makes good sense to me ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

RE: Adios Amigo's

Yes...(particularly "dah") the site is "just fine" Although you try to insult myself and my attempt to create a more succeptable environment. Instead of helping, you chose to "bash" anyone and their comments which do not meet your offensive agenda.
I'LL BE HONEST, i HAVE READ YOUR "POETRY"(SORRY FOR THE CAPS), and some of it is pretty good, though most of it seems more essay than poetry.
I however write quite good POETRY,( yes even humility on my behalf recognizes this). which is what this site purports to be for.
I have nothing against essays, and find them in many cases to be quite stimulating, though to call them "poetry" is an abomination to the art.
I have chosen to remain quiet and leave with my dignity intact, but comments like yours drive me to levels of anger to which I cannot remain silent.
Sure you claim to have had your work "published", but anyone with a credit card and the ability to use Google, can have their work published.
This in no way makes your efforts relevent in this field.
My apologies to all for taking this negative turn, but I cannot stand idly by and watch someone of this ilk pretend to be "holier than thou"

Good ole Edwin,
he never misses an opportunity to tell everyone how talented he is.

What's even funnier, he believes that by posting this ridiculous statement, he's keeping his dignity in tact!

Where's Mel Brooks when you need him lol!!!

If he comes back though Artie I don't think he necessarily could be written off entirely as in actually coming back becoming a contributing member and doing his thing regardless of what any nobody says. (I have a similar yet more masculine thought process than Emily Dickinson) smile

I'm nobody! Who are you?

I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there's a pair of us?
Don't tell! they'd advertise – you know!

How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one's name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Bog! Emily Dickinson

RE: Adios Amigo's

I have erased some videos that are irrelevent, but some are not they are analogies, to create a NEW SENSE,

Originalpoetry has a youtube channel to gather poets from youtube, Papa=Pac=Man has no one to help him, again that idea has been mentioned.

You all know how to write poetry, but math that's another issue.
One negative post against another is not produtive, every teneager should know that.

theCross you are welcome to quote Emily any day, and use my good luck charm.

I have had that poem on my profile since day one, so you truly know what's up.

I will say something that the first week on the new book, I have monitored the
Poets that won from book two, I have found an interesting fact, but that doesn't matter, what matters is two things.

1. Keeping people here happy, and content.

2. Creating ways that pay for the sites' expenses'
because it should not be taken from the Poets, if it does
then all Poets that win have a say so.

Now I was told that I'll probably not ever win again, because of my voice.
If so so be it, I have given 100 percent to this site, and my friends, and non friends.

What bothers me here is that not one of you in this thread, has commented,
all of the other Poets poems, this tells me its personal, and not poetry.

People leave I have been told because they cant grow as a Poet here,
and the contest is a popularity contest.

So I have provided a solution for all Poets to get professional publishing help,
without the expense of others, and all it takes is some time for OP to makes some calls, and set it up.
Poets that do have books, can add them to their profiles, and books sold from OP, does not take away from the Poets, it takes away from Amazon, and LULU,
and they don’t mind that, that's what they want salesmen type of websites.
That in turn gives the hard working Poets here, their competitive royalties.

Now this is a positive post, I have seen some positive Poets, and Posts get deleted, the ones I am talking about are only known by the ones that know.

There are always three sides to a story, the plaintiff, and the defense, and the truth.

The truth I’m talking about is what is right for every single registered poet.
We claim to be great, but where is greatness, so I ask
Look at the hard truth, the hard work, the beautiful poetry here.
We have the old school, we have the current school, but there needs to be
Intelligent progress here, and I agree this is site is fine.
It can only get better for all.

And another note, this is a Dot com site, not a dot net.
And every idea belongs to the owners of OP, and the creator of the idea.
So in other words if another site takes our ideas, then we are at war with them.
So think about this, this is our home, our site, our poetry, our future.
Do we really want to be known as the greatest Poetic fuck up in the 21st century .
I don't, so the TRUTH, the Great Dog, She's a barking.

Me and Madelynn wont be here much, we are working on our book.
And Helping Asha (Madelynn and Asha will be another part to the Poem above
to prove that my theory that we need Father heads, and Mother heads, to make the World a better place, stone removing for the youth, and what precious hearts they have.)
When I drop in it's because a friend wants me to read a poem, and
for me to help Peat with the 2011 class.
So I wont be replying, or disburting any mores ideas. for while.
I am working two jobs now as well, because me and Madeynn are going to
Emily Dickinsons House, and Poes, this Spring,
by train, the real way to travel..

So enjoy, and I provided a poem to bash me on..

Happy New Year....

RE: Adios Amigo's

I wouldn't over think it Aria. This thread was rubbish from the start.

12-28-2010 at 10:56:41 PM

RE: Adios Amigo's

This thread, Aria, is a response to Edwin's comment and farewell. To mention only a few of the great poets on this site of 40,000 plus writers would be an injustice to the many. It has turned into what the site can provide for us and not what we can provide for the site, more great poems. To me it is a modern day Poet's Society where people can get up, read their poetry (virtually speaking), and then sit down and listen to the next. The owners see fit to offer a competition and weekly wins to publish in an Anthology, the sole right as owners. Some seem to think it is centered on a clique or certain people and feel they have been slighted in some way.

Some want to offer more outlets for publishing their work free of initial cost and expand the site to offer more for the members. We have a forum thread where you can refer a poem or poet to read and serves a great function in that you promote others and not yourself.

I do not know if I have clarified this for you, or not, but the thread has serve it purpose and beyond and it is time to end it. Another thread can be started to promote changes but it is always the owner of the site who have the last say and no matter what, this is my home on the web.

12-28-2010 at 11:51:05 PM

RE: Adios Amigo's

oh I did not see any poem in this thread to comment on,,,,,I know I am slow at getting around lately to commenting on friends poems but I am trying...so if there is some you would like for me to read and comment on that I missed please, please let me know......There is one here who I really admire and I really do like your poetry and I wish I could comment on it but alas I cannot and you are the only one that knows why.......I sure wish I knew if I did something to hurt your feelings cause if I did I surely did not intend to.......no matter about all that anyway I still value you as a friend and family member here at op and I hope you feel the same.....love asha

as far as anything else in this thread I really don't get why one person wants to make a big deal out of leaving.....if your that unhappy then I don't think anyone is going to bolt the door closed to keep you hear....

also I think the ideas that have been expressed especially those by John and some of the others about finding ways to help some of us get published is a great idea.....other then that we all need to keep sharing and supporting each other by reading and commenting as much as we can........I will catch up hopefully soon, but for now I have no choice but to take it slow since I got out of the hospital and I am working as hard as I can on the christmas book.........

I hope this thread reaches a conclusion soon before everyone just gets too far off track..........say goodbye and let it be...........love asha

RE: Adios Amigo's

For those poet who have discovered a poet on the site they like and want to recommend them there is a thread, Buzzy Worthy set up for that purpose:

http://www.originalpoetry.com/forum/view/topic/topic_id/4347

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
