DRAGONFLIES
From the terrace on my roof,Gazing at the pool below,
In wonder rapt, I watch,
As the water gently flows.
I stay hidden in the darkness,
(Save the light from yon full moon)
So amazed at nature's largess,
Spying fairies as they spoon.
Yes, I know that it sounds crazy,
But I've seen these wondrous steeds;
Dragonflies with winged ladies,
Astride their backs, to waters lead.
I watch in awe as they dismount
And hold my breath, lest they should hear.
Such beauty one cannot discount;
While they bathe, their men appear.
Dragonflies dipping and soaring,
As naked fairies play and kiss.
From above the rain starts pouring;
All my life, I've dreamed of this.
I hear the tinkle in their laughter,
As two by two, they mount their steeds.
I know I'll watch for them hereafter;
If only in my sweetest dreams.
So when you spy a dragonfly,
Think well on what it may portend;
In quiet night, by moons full light,
Watch close as these steeds descend.
