By the River
By the River
(To my friend Ingrid)
The times we sat by the river
searching for the warmth of the sun
are forever cherished in my heart.
We are now so far apart:
The water flowing,
And the sky of incandescent blue
became for me a constant reminder of you.
I walk alone
along the sunny path,
filled with thoughts
of those days past.
The boats go by,
the breeze plays with my hair
and I wonder why life takes away
friends for whom we so much care.
I miss your smile, I miss your way.
I hope and pray I’ll see you some day.
