Another New Year
What can I say of New Year rhymes,
That's not been said a thousand times?
The new years come, the old years go,
I know we score, but we dream for more.
Rise up laughing with the light,
Lie down weeping in the night.
Hug the world until it stings,
Or ‘til it pains, then and sigh for wings.
We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We hide our pride, we bury our dead.
We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
That's the burden of another year.
So sing, young hearts all full of cheer,
With ne'er a thought of sorrow near;
The old is out, but the young’s in
Come merrily tomorrow my friend.
I challenge you a new resolution.
Just be yourself avoid evolution.
To be one’s self there’s no substitution
Nor the need for further absolution,
Wrap your arms around your chest
Hug the one you love the best.
No one is stronger to direct you than yourself.
