Some Wonderful
Every guy is waiting for her
The one they love before they’ve met
Every woman knows it, too
That diiferent man, they can’t forget
Primordial sexual archetypes
Imprint on transfer RNA
That chemical composite list
Forms molecular display
Of who’s that person we’ll let in
Or gaze a second glance
The manly guy she’ll let cut in
From the one without a chance
And then there’s romance of the nose
Epithelials in charge
Some just know and not suppose
Need I more enlarge?
Perfume makers have it right
To market subtrafuge
For any girl, on any night
Must act when stakes are huge
It’s not just getting past the greet
And into conversation
That can easily all be rigged
By approprite libation.
But discerning guys will keep an eye
For the maid most natural
Eschewing paint, and florid musk
For some more transparent pull
Is she real, and is she kind?
Is she truly beautiful?
And any guy who isn’t blind
Can discern her wonderful.
Every heart needs some wonderful
And knows when ache grows strong
We were born apart, but to heal the heart
We must be loved to right that wrong.
Poems tattle as poets prattle
About hearts left black and blue
But beyond the rhyme of this rattled line
Is there some wonderful . . . that's you?
