The Friendship
Walking together slowly
Warm sun seeping through our pores
Cherishing our time together
Both praying for many more
The sky an endless azure
Soft breeze dancing through our hair
Seeing clouds turn into dragons
Then disappear into thin air
I watched as she spread sunshine
To all we chanced to meet
Convinced that as we strolled along
Flowers bloomed beneath her feet
We talked of everything and nothing
Laughing well into the night
Reminiscing special memories
With arms linked together tight.
The unspoken words we shared
Echoed the ticking of the clock
Why did fate select her door
To sound its fatal knock?
I did not want to say goodbye
Not to my life-long friend
Comforted only by my firm belief
God would have us meet again.
