Poem Commentary

I wrote this poem for the Picture Poetry forum.

Mr. Moon

Mr. Moon

Oh, Crystal Ball up in the sky
Can you tell me why?
I know you hold the answer
My heart can’t bear another lie!

I can’t hear you, Mr. Moon!
Only the crying of the loon
I’m afraid I’m going to break
Reveal something to me soon!

I hear the whisper of the lake
The gentle splashing of the wake
But the silence from Your glow
Is almost more than I can take

Hence the night becomes surreal
Somewhere deep inside I feel
You spreading peace and warmth
As my heart begins to heal

Julie, this is badass!! The way you wrote this so simply- and the meaning so profound! I felt like I was walking with you, or sitting on the porch with you, lookin' up at that big pearl- feeling your despair, awaiting resolution! This is tight lady!!- Im thinkin' my favorite of yours so far, and again- the simplicity of the write just seals the mood perfectly!! Maddi

the silence of the moon may be the healing power - forcing you to look inside yourself to find the healing amswwer

I too love the moon and the clear night sky. There are some things for me that only nature seems to truly heal. As I alluded to in the poem "Mr. Moon" is many times my link to The Great Spirit In The Sky. glad you liked it

The yearning for answers led to a delightfully well written write!

Thank you!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
