humoresque
by god your heart is breakingyour dark soul is aching
on this rainy, lonely night
just before fall
hits you with even more
blues and death at your door
chill you, chill you
with the call
of a humorous end
so what if it is over
so what if it ends
there are many fish in the kettle
swimming around the bend
god your days are numbered
like distant thunder
there on somebody's phone
you try to stall
before the bitter end
you ring up your best friend
who has sent you money
but that is all
by god she wrote before summer
ended with her bouts of slumber
and it was then
that you remembered the call
of a humorous end
so what the hell do you do
so what the hell if it ends
you are just another fish in the kettle
swimming around the bend
