    Poem Commentary

    I updated this poem on 2.15.10 because I wasn't satisfied with the former ending. Let me know what you think.



    For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)



    And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose. (Romans 8:28)



    Therefore, what the devil meant for evil, God turns it around and makes it good. I find it awesome that something potentially limiting/damaging and not of God could be used by God in a positive way...

    I sometimes cause your breath to seize
    The awkward wobble in your knees
    The pools of sweat to wet your palms
    Your tranquil mood abandons calm



    Might lose your words and thoughts on stage
    Might find yourself in a mental cage
    Opportunities missed and nothing risked
    This demon spirit's got you fixed



    But witness her child caught in danger
    You might have seen nothing stranger
    Suddenly a timid mom
    Becomes the hulk and fear is gone



    I'm often known to save a life
    Life-saving urge of fight or flight
    Just like a deer caught in headlights
    Keen sense to move increased that night



    Even I have a role to serve
    If only just to strike a nerve
    When courage lacks, fear can assist
    And be an unexpected catalyst



    Though often seen as negative
    I've got a lot of drive to give
    A needed boost, a dreaded kick
    But friend or foe?
    Take your pick.

    Great job here Melly Mel. I love how you were fear in this one...why...because I was once a razor lol. I like writing things from the point of view of something else...often a not expected something else...and I see you have a flare for it yourself. Non too shabby there. Do not FEAR these Kudos :)

    Thank you! Yeah, I find pieces like those very interesting... caught the idea after seeing many like 'em. Wanted to try my hand at a few. Thanks again...

    I had to come and get full of this one, once again! I love it, love it! It makes me feel each and every line. It burns my heart with wisdom to recognize "fear" and accept its friendship once and for all! You are a blessed woman!

    tx again, jade... glad u have more of an awareness of fearafter reading my poem, but i feel now that i might need to rephrase the last line "best friend you ever had." I don't want ppl to think of fear as a friend, but rather sometimes as a warning or an adrenaline boost in some instances that can enable you to react strongly in a positive defensive way... God's Word says God has not given us a spirit of fear, so i want that to be clear if you get what i mean.

    Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.
