Drunken Memories
With screeching, screaming tires,Billowing smoke; blaring horn,
Thunderous crash, flesh a'ripping;
As on angel's wings I'm borne
Back through flashing memories
To the birth of my first child;
So much joy my soul to relish,
Such perfection, heart beguiled
On to school on first day crying;
Broken heart, I stood alone...
Watching babe I ere have cradled
Walking, smiling, going... gone
Now, 'tis night of graduation,
Standing tall in cap and gown;
Soon my side he will be leaving...
So in drink my sorrows drown.
I see the Kodak's of time and season
Flash before my tumbling eyes
And as my car is torn to pieces
On wings of death, I realize...
Selfish thoughts now have taken
Drunken father from loving son,
And the Kodak's of his tomorrow
Will forever be... minus one.
