    Without Changing

    I don't know the beginning.
    I've fogotten the ending.
    I gave up my past;
    To loathe my future.

    I crushed my hopes
    To swallow their dreams.
    I prayed
    That they'd understand me.

    I broke the rules
    To fail the test.
    I cheated my friend
    To live my lie.

    I raised up my hands
    To silence their questions.
    Broke my ties
    To bind myself tighter.

    Looked Medusa in her eyes
    To have a tender heart
    Looked love in the eyes
    To be frozen solid.

    Gave my everything
    To gain nothing,
    And gave nothing
    To die.

    So why can't I feel
    Feel a rhythm in the breeze?
    Why have I lost touch
    To the things I hold dear?

    Lost myself in ambition;
    Gave myself to fear.
    Broke my self worth;
    Destroyed my tears.

    Forgetting I'm real.
    Forgetting I feel.
    Forgetting the love you offered me.

    I gave it away
    So I could stay
    Without changing.

    I liked the poem in general. Seems to emphasize individuality and self-acceptance while going through the various analytical processes that bring curiosity of worth and value to it all; if at all.

    The first thing that grabbed my attention was how you balanced the condradictions. I like that. "looking at medusa to have a tender heart"

    Beautiful and simple....

    The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
