Love Lost

It is said that it is better to have loved and lost

However, I ask is that too high a cost?

I would rather have never loved at all

Than to feel the pain that comes after the fall

It would have been much better not to feel

Than to be left here all alone to deal

You never even put up a fight

Did I ever mean anything to you all those nights?

Not even so much as a backwards glance

Left standing with my feelings all askance

To have loved and lost was my downfall

I wish I would have never loved you at all

Deep words, i can relate to them, wish the answer was simple to your point, your making: "Would things be better if I had never Loved...?" Well I'm gunna snoop around the rest of your writings. Take Care

Trust me it IS better to have loved and lost because the absence of emotion is emptiness. Trust me I am a professional at emptiness! Great poem though!

this is such a great poem. it really does give mouth the pain of breaking up with someone you love.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.
