Little Lessons
An important little story
Mom told me as a child
I should've listened closer
but I was kind of wild
Each and every detail
I cannot recall
I think i know the gist of it
But wish I knew it all
Somethin' bout a basket
And a hooded child,
A grandma and a sneaky wolf
Who had an evil smile
He saw the girl out walkin'
To her grandma's house
He started with some stalkin'
As quiet as a mouse.
He knew that he must have her
He thought "What shall I do?
Anything that I can try
To get me close to you."
Then he tried to trick her
With his cunning ways
Determined he would have her
To do with what he may
He lied to try and get her
He used some fancy words
He even tried to act the part
Of someone she preferred
He used a gentle voice
To try and lure her in
A wolf in soft sheep's clothing
But cruel under the skin
He almost had her going
She almost thought him true
Until she gazed into his eyes
Then suddenly she knew
The lesson to the story
Is always know your man
And if he likes to hurt you
Get out while you can
If you stay much longer
You'll suffer in the end
Because he cannot love you
A wolf resides in him.
