RE:

Wow Papa - booting me off? THIS is what you wanted your site to be when you thought it up? A high school clique popularity contest? Not a forum for good poets to do good work. Nice site.

Aria......(amazing how people are afraid to use their own names....),
I DO read other peoples work......your research is either non existant or faulty, I have no compunctions against writing this since in your infinite wisdom, you directed your comments at me, I will not even comment on your works.
When you call someone out by name ARIA you better have all of your ducks in a row, or (as in your case) you just look stupid and ignorant.

RE:

Edwin, I was referring to your earlier post on the forum where you mentioned not having enough time to cultivate friendships on the site.

WS, I mentioned in my post earlier that SS had insulted one of the most beloved poets on the site, you know of course that is Maddi.

RE:

I am shocked by OP's "booting" off a new member for his honest expressions, disagreeable though they may have been and hurtfully interpreted by others. I think this site should be large enough for everyone. If members do not like certain new members, they have the option to simply ignore them. But to boot him off is extreme, like being ex communicated by the church. I'm just too shocked to say more now.

RE:

Contest Inprovements

I think we'll start here...

What we have discussed:

Poems should all fit into the same critiquing process....for example
1-Form
2- consistancy of topic
3-meter and rhyme
4-effective use of metaphore
etc............Just my thoughts

also

How about you have to rate three poems from the contest random generator before your poem becomes eligible for the contest?

There are mixed feelings about Judges. Pros and Cons anyone?

I also mentioned maybe we should spawn another contest along side the one going now. Maybe we could even do a test run with some ideas we come up with to see how it goes. If we need a prize, we still have a stack of books here. I could toss one in.

Papa, I have to say you and the crew have some great thinktank ideas brewing! I said it a very long time ago and I say it now, OP is the cutting edge site to be a part of! Our hats are off to you and the crew for all you guy's accomplishments and future accomplishments!
***************************************************************************************************
Madelynn .. Congratulation's on your long overdue well deserved win!
I'm honored to be your first poet friend here at OP! As far as the admitted attack upon you, hold your head high lady! Everyone knows there is one in every crowd and OP is no exception. It's simply a sad moment when one feels the need to attack a lady for whatever reason they're harboring. In my life experiences it has always been obvious that when a man attacks a lady in any manner, this man has many unanswered self issues and more than likely these unanswered self issues will continue to haunt him.
We, your friends and poet fans await your next great write!

Your first OP poet friend,

Maddi,
His reprehensible behavior should not be explusion from the group. I think that sends bad vibes to one and all. I am not defending his behavior, or his poetry (it's really not my cup of tea, either), but his right to be part of this great site where all should be welcome, to learn, to develop, to express, to share, etc. So he had a lot to learn. What better way to show him that than allowing his diatribes to fall on indifferent ears? They would have stopped, in time, as soon as he himself saw how ineffective they are on here. That's all I'm saying.

RE: I stand with you, ALL THE WAY.

I am happy to compete with Maddi any day:
If it was a cloudy day, she'd bring light from her smile.
If there was thunder, she'd entertain angels without guile.
And I know that she's no person to whine.
She's wise to withold pearls from disinclined.
She's caring to give and Bleed For a Cause
Reflecting on her work: a source for applause.
Praying for her health is a privlege, blessed
May scorn be removed as East is from West!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey People! If I gave the same kind of grief as this guy dished out, unprovoked. You can kick me off, too (or there isn't any justice) Amen!?

RE:

I havent been to the forums in awhile, and all I can say is....HOLY SHIT BATMAN! Why the hell is this guy bashing Maddi? One of the sweetest and talented poets here on OP. In my opinion Maddi, you deserved to win, it was a long time coming. I am glad you are being recognized for your talent. As for the hater, you need to chill, I have got a J with your name on it so you can relax and calm down a bit. There is no need for all the hate speech, if you are so upset why dont you write about it and let it out rather than harrass and upset someone who in no way deserved it. Bob Dylan was right, 'EVERYBODY must get stoned. Chill out, Peace and Love, Spence

Now, this is a community, and the way we treat each other should, and as far as Im concerned-does, matter. No, I dont think he has the right to learn proper humane responses, by beating up on a family of poets who have stuch together through a hellava lot so far. I mean, if I dont like my neighbors- would it appropriate for me to send letters to there house telling them they suck, and screamimg it up and down the village street-? No. I know what your saying, that he has equal rights to his opinion, and should be respected while he is still learning the ropes here, but I also know that to get respect- one must give respect,, and sir, he has greatly disrespected me and John(as well as others here-even Pac!), and his attack was NOT provoked. If he doesnt like my work, then he need not read me- end of story. If he feels HE should have won instead of me, write a letter to Pac, or word it diffrently publically. He even went after my profile pictures calling me a fake- come on. The man was out to try and humiliate me.. wish he would admit the real reason why, instead of all this nonsense.

RE:

the fact of the matter is the personal attack... maddi was looooooong over due for a weekly win... some of the poems that she had entered in the past should have won hands down... imo... the fact that she didnt win may have made her more determined and in the long run improved her writing skills... so once again maddi i say congrats on your long over due win... but back to the personal attack... this guy has no place in our community... he set out with the intention of hate and hurt...
nothing he said was constructive... he did not offer maddi any critism that would help to grow or improve as a writer... isnt that what why we are here... to share and grow and improve... to help eachother become better... look at all of the time we have lost dealing with this situation... this child comes in here and upsets the apple cart and its all eyes on him... no he didnt win the weekly contest but he sure as hell got all of the attention this week... completly stealing maddis thunder in the process... think of how much poetry may have slipped through the cracks this week... we may have overlooked next weeks potential winner because our focus has been shifted to dealing with a sore loser... our community is being neglected right now because our energy has been misused and misdirected into the forum and away from the poems that are being posted... now i do understand that the forums are part of the community... but the poetry is the reason we are here... maddi i am so happy that you won the weekly contest and my heart if full of such sorrow at the same time because you did not get to feel the glow of it after you won... i hope that you win again so that you can get the full effect with all of the afterglow that follows it...

Yeah, what he said!! wink

If SS has been booted, I for one am ECSTATIC. We don't need his negative energy and hate to be spread any further than it has been. I'm all for free speech and all the other freedoms that we are supposed to have as adults... but this guy just took it way too far. And it was not only unnecessary, but it was completely unfounded. Maddi is one of the greatest poets on this site, and to come to her privately and splash these hateful words in her face when she should have been in the midst of euphoria... that was just WRONG. And then he chose to do it publicly as well?? I'm shocked by the audacity and lack of consideration of this guy.

Just for the record, I haven't even talked about booting anyone... However... if he'd like me too, I can accommodate.

RE: Following in the wings

I've been following this 'mess' in the wings and have to say: Maddi, is it? Now don't everyone crucify me! I can see wher SS can say he doesn't like your stuff after all:

Anthem of Echoes
Catch a rain cloud~ vroom clack
Humble gallop clip clop~ ca-plash
Angels bathing~ chinkle
Reciting rescue verse~ wish-wish
Roses seen through ears~ hush ush
Gazed poet lyrics told~ tink-tink
Rhythm of thorns~ cha-chun, cha-chun

Keeper of solitude reigns her bridled cloud

Is pretty bad. And your rhymes are kinda forced. No, he doesn't have the right to slam you like that but all your friends attacking him is like high school, man o' man. And -- Wordslinger, seriously guy, are you retarded or just very very dumb? Because if you are retarde , I can forgive your idiocy, if not, what you post, that 'you think "hip" way of taliking -- you are a 'tard.

I hope I find some serious poets on this site who want to interact and create good work by sharing ideas and giving serious critiques of each others work. To any serious poets here - send me a message and maybe we can share some work.

I do sorta agree with you on this one. I've learned over the last 18 months that instant booting of someone doesn't really accomplish anything productive.

Usually I tell someone to relax, and back down. If they continue, then further action is taken. I've written him privately telling him to knock it off, let's hope he does...

RE: Dilemma

I agree that we share a site to offer our view of what is, or isn't considered poetry. When I read the outpouring of someone's soul, for that's what poery attempts (and usually accomplishes), I look at it as a whole in focus of aspirations or theme, and mechanics, grammatical integrity and spelling, last. If I think its really sad in presentation I would mention in a p/m not publicly: especailly on a page profile or a forum. I think 'freedom of expression' is on occasion, a disguise for unsolicited malice. I have commented on hundreds of poets here and not left lower than an 8 which is quite rare: most get a 10 in good faith for expressing the cry of their heart, not slammed for the ranting of their mind. encouragement goes further than insults.cool smile

RE: RE: Following in the wings

To say that someone sucks or is retarded is infantile. And yes, friends will always back up friends who are attacked.

Constructive critique is always welcome - such as your opinion that the rhymes are forced - that is constructive. Everything else you said is a personal attack!

Have you read Maddi's other works? Just because you didn't like one poem, doesn't mean she sucks - What a mean thing to say!

Wordslinger is a brilliant poet - and a good friend of Maddi's (also a brilliant poet), so yes, of course he comes to her defense. As do I. Don't you back up your friends?

Shame on you. Calling someone a retard. Shame on you.

And yes, Ry, I agree - pickles are indeed green.
