Farewell Song
Don’t believe the kisses - they can mask a bite
Sometimes even an angel can turn to a kite
I blessed your way up but I didn’t bless your throne
Who cares for the cage when the bird has flown?
I am still the same captain standing on his deck
I am leading the galley wishing it a wreck
But I’ll never leave your sailors on their own.
Who cares for the cage when the bird has flown?
You told me “Time for flyer, it’s enough to creep”
But should I cut the roots that had grown so deep?
We were soaring in space facing the unknown.
Who cares for the cage when the bird has flown?
Should I tell “Don’t leave me”? No, let’s drop the words
Silent prayer of mine can beat many chords
You’re scratched on my heart but not etched in stone.
Thou giveth us light and I’ll burn to keep it on.
