Choosing to Love

Poem Commentary

For my beautiful wife, who has blessed my life beyond comprehension, and given me my life's inspiration.

Choosing to Love

Cherry circled cheek with a classic cute grin

Embedded in the heart embracing love caught within

Falling for a feeling that only fools set free

Drawn in a desire to reach each others dreams

Holding high a banner heralding for all to see

Pure love planted in the depths of eternity

Welcoming warmth of words spoken silently

Speaking from every kiss grazed ever so gently

Graced with a friendship grown in the wildest beginnings

Yoked in the yearnings of young passionate feelings

Fiercely fueling a fire that brushes two bodies together instantly

Lost in one anothers eyes, losing all reasoning

Knowing all hopes and fears are kept respectfully

Resting in the refuge untainted despite life's shortcomings

Simply content, strolling hand and hand

Choosing to love; one lady, one man.

This is a great portrait of a love shared. Sharing is the part its always hard to do well. With gracefulness it is easier felt. It seems to feel that way and I thought it was good how you expressed it so well.

a beautiful ode to your wife. she must have been deeply touched by it. very well written and expressive.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
