Unreal

I wish I knew
What to say to you.
Was this fake
Or really true?

The life I knew
Was just a lie.
I thought I'd found
That perfect guy.

The love we shared
Felt so real.
But the truth came out
It's so surreal.

Could I learn,
To know what's true?
To see the sky,
That's ever blue.

I wish I knew,
how to fly.
To the sky,
Forever nigh.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
